What excites me the most is unlocking more substantial investment opportunities for clients. Maybe half of the assets on this planet are accessible through private and public markets, but the other half remains illiquid or out of reach. Tokenization allows investors to integrate these assets into their portfolios, increasing the possibilities of generating better outcomes.
Back in the day, people said public blockchains wouldn’t work, that everything would be private chains. Now you have BlackRock coming to Ethereum, Franklin Templeton issuing tokenized funds, and Société Générale launching a permissionless stablecoin. Good luck going back.
Right now, real-world assets have surpassed the total value locked in DeFi, which is pretty significant because it’s a very small percentage of what can be turned into a real-world asset. My personal view is that real-world assets will surpass the value of cryptocurrencies over the next one to three years. This trend will drive the majority of net new value into the industry.
